Kasilof

I have always been proud to be born and raised in Kasilof, which is a small town on the Kenai Peninsula, about 160 miles south of Anchorage. Apparently Kasilof has a little over 400 residents, but if someone would have asked me before I read that, I would have guessed much less since very few houses are visible from the road since all the houses are tucked into the woods. Kasilof does not have city limits that I know of, so it is hard to say where it begins and ends, which is a part of the charm of the place. Naturally, we have all the modern conveniences, but the lifestyle is still close to nature. The Kasilof River is basically the town center, which gets filled with fish and tourists in the summer, and Mount Redoubt looking over the landscape from across Cook Inlet, which is a beautiful view from the beach. Life in Kasilof is relaxed, quite, and private, and I hope it always remains so.
