Spring World Cups - 25.02.2007

I am currently packing and training preparation for the final three World Cups of the season. The Spring World Cups are always unpredictable because everybody is tired from a long racing season. That also means they are good opportunity for good results.

The first stop will be in Lahti, Finland, where I am looking forward to overcast skies and potatoes. I always like going to Finland since I have Finnish blood (thus my name, Hakkinen), and the ski courses suit me very well.

Then it is off to the most expensive city in the world, Oslo, Norway. A traditional stop on the World Cup circuit, and always fun because skiing on the Holmenkollen trails is like skiing in History.

The final stop will be in Khanty-Mansisk, Russia, always an adventure. My favourite part is the award ceremony they put on, which then blends into a great party which goes right up until it is time to board the plane to go home after a long season. It always surprises me that nobody has ever missed the flight.
