Training in Paradise - Hotel Schneeberg - 06.09.2007

The training has been very intense lately, but I made it through the tunnel, and had a little time to recover. Therefore, I took some time to visit my girlfriend Kristin, who lives in Germany. We decided to go to the Hotel Schneeberg in Ridnaun, Italy since she also wanted to go some place nice and relaxing. The Hotel Schneeberg is one of my main sponsors, assisting me to do the training it takes to reach the international level, and I am very proud to represent them because it is my definition of a perfect hotel.
I have often been to Ridnaun for competitions and altitude training in the winter, and it is always my favorite place to go because the Hotel Schneeberg really accomadates to athletes, as well as being a four star hotel. However, this was the first time I have been to the Hotel Schneeberg in the summer, and it was just as nice.
Originally, Kristin and I were planning on just taking the weekend off to take advantage of the Sauna, massage, pool, and great food. However, there were so many things to do, it turned out to be great training too.
Ridaun is in a beautiful mountain valley with great trails up the mountains which are not as accessible in the winter. With the snow gone, the hiking and moutain biking was incredible. After climbing a different mountain trail each day, it was also nice to have some relaxing time. Conveniently, just outside of the hotel, there is a basically a small amusement park. It even includes horses, goats and rabbits for kids to pet, volleyball, soccer, and plenty of space for laying in the sun to get a tan. Kristin and I had a mini golf and ping pong tournament which we both claim to have won. The only time we had left remaining in the day was to eat dinner which is always a gourmet treat.
Overall, it was ideal. It is such a nice quiet location, and suited well for families or anybody. The time past fast, but it was a pleasure, and we are certainly looking forward to returning to the Hotel Schneeberg soon.
