I was very pleased with the sixth place finish together with my relay partner, Lanny Barnes, at the World Team Challenge in Schalke, Germany. Schalke is an amazing event where they make a ski course and shooting range in a soccer stadium giving 50,000 spectators the chance to see biathlon at it’s best. The format, with one man and one women who ski 1 kilometer and then tag after each shooting, is not a World Cup format, but it really should be, because it is a very intense fast paced race which is a lot of fun.
Lanny and I were both able to handle the pressure well. Against the men I was the fastest shooter, and against the women Lanny was the fastest, in the four stage shooting contest. For the actual race, together we had six consecutive clean stages to move ourselves into a solid sixth place overall. It was a great event, and also showed I am skiing and shooting pretty well right now. <- back |
