The past week of competitions in Ruhpolding had some very positive highlights and good results. I have had some shooting problems during the December World Cups and also was sick over the Christmas break, so luck was not on my side. Finally the dark clouds passed by. I worked extremely hard on shooting over the past weeks, and that work is now paying off.
In the relay in Ruhpolding I was second leg. Normally I start the relay, but this time it was decided that Lowell Bailey would start, and he proved he is well qualified tagging me in good position. It was a good race for me as well, and a pleasant surprise that I ended up with the fastest time for my leg, with solid fast shooting. Taking that confidence into the sprint I had the first clean shooting of the season and placed 17th. Then in the pursuit, three shooting mistakes only allowed me to move forward to 16th place. Now the team is in Antholz, Italy where the final World Cup before the World Championships is being held. I am fighting for a top 30 position (currently I am ranked 33) in order to start in the Mass Start on Sunday. Therefore I must get to training to prepare for the competition. Keep your fingers crossed. Jay Here is a short video with Jay's comments on his sprint race in Ruhpolding . <- back |
